Monthly Meeting: November 06, 2008
Eighteen daughters met in the chapel for Holly Communion. Father K. was celebrant.
The meeting was called order by Jackie B., president. Minutes from October were passed with an amendment on color of sheets for the Hospitality House.
Sheets are needed in white, beige or tan. Dryer sheets and detergent are also needed.
Jackie reported that Pam is recovering from surgery for breast cancer. Radiation starts today and she will need chemo also.
Treasurer Susan M. reported that we have $902.00.
Lara is our new Bereavement Card coordinator. Cards were passed out to volunteers. Thanks to Lara for taking on this job.
I gave thanks to all who donated food for Bob D's funeral reception. You all were so generous. And also to the kitchen crew who, as usual, went way beyond the call of duty.
Jackie addressed the need for Prayer Request Cards to be placed in the pew racks. These request cards would be put in the ingathering baskets, the head usher then gets them to Carol or Jackie. the requests would be put on e-mail to add to our monthly prayer list. those in town without e-mail would also be notified. Jackie has checked with Precision Printing and their cost per hundred cards would be $39.08. More on this later.
Jackie received a letter from Jamie Peabody, our Diocesan President, stating that we have a new group of Daughters, St Brigets at the Church of The Resurrection in Loudon. We should all keep them in our prayers.
Out Advent quiet day will be Dec 11 fro 10 - 2:30.l Please bring a sack lunch and drink (if you don't want coffee). The Rev. Mary Le Bergeon will present "Preparing for Healing".
After the business meeting, Father Norman presented an intriguing program on "The Church of England =- Past, Present and Future." This was definitely a crash course in Church History. We heard about the evolution of Christianity in the British Isles, missionaries, Vikings, Normans, Reformation, Kings, Queens, Presbyterians, and others. Finally, the movement of the Protestant Episcopal Church to the USA and the formation of the Anglican Communion, up to today. great job Fr. Norman - all that in about 35 minutes.
Respectfully Submitted, Mariann C. Secretary.
